LEICESTER co-promoter Marc Bates says they will go “full throttle” to preserve their top flight status next week.
The Watling JCB Lions will face off with newly crowned Championship winners Sheffield in the promotion/relegation race-off.
They will head to Owlerton for the first leg on Monday (7.30) before hosting the second leg at Beaumont Park on Wednesday (7.30) in a bid to maintain their Premiership spot.
Bates is confident the Lions have what it takes to come out on top with ambitions of launching an assault for top honours in 2018.
Bates said: “I don't believe that Sheffield will beat Leicester over two legs, as we’ve shown at the back end of season that we were capable of beating most teams around Beaumont Park.
“A team from the Championship shouldn’t be able to compete with us, so we’ll be going full throttle to keep our top flight status.
“I want Leicester to stay in the top league so we can give it a good go and build a team on a level playing field after last season, which hopefully can compete at the top end of the league next year because that’s what our loyal fans deserve.
“A lot of hard work went on this season behind the scenes with track work and commercial aspects which will stand the club on a good footing going forward for the seasons to come.
“We need all the fans to come and back us to see off Sheffield and make sure we’re still in the Premiership next season.”
